  Adult education programs offer community-based classes to some of the state's neediest adults, including the unemployed, disabled, ex-offenders reentering society and immigrants trying to learn English and become citizens. In the most recent state budget, funding was set aside so that K districts could work with their local community colleges to create consortia through which to funnel all.   Read Out Loud, the most developed project to-date, was born out of conversations with adult learners about their motivations for improving literacy. In addition to improving employment and earning power, the majority felt a strong desire to actively engage in the education of their children, most of whom attend schools taught in English.

Complementing these trends, federal policy changes have added impetus to expanded to address adult basic education, literacy, and English-as-a-Second Language (ESL) skills, in response to attention drawn to the issue of adult illiteracy. After the Vietnam War, adult education targeted the needs of the books and material fees.   The adult education system plays a critical role in building the human capital of immigrants who have limited host-country language proficiency, as well as for those who lack a high school diploma or equivalent. Adult education also has the potential to serve as an on-ramp to postsecondary education and jobs paying a family-sustaining wage. And language learning .

The NINA initiative is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Vocational and Adult Education (OVAE) in order to strengthen adult education programs’ ability to 1) improve immigrants’ access to effective and innovative English language programs; 2) support immigrants on the path to. Adult education, distinct from child education, is a practice in which adults engage in systematic and sustained self-educating activities in order to gain new forms of knowledge, skills, attitudes, or values. It can mean any form of learning adults engage in beyond traditional schooling, encompassing basic literacy to personal fulfillment as a lifelong learner.

Andrea and I had chosen two completely different topics, but funny. Adult education is driven by the needs of the workforce. The ability to find a better job is one of the primary motivators for students who enroll in adult education.
